t was a cold and windy old day in the Hills. We lent Blackwood 4 players and once again we had a few injuries. We got of to a resonable start kicking with the breeze but were not able to utilise all our scoring opportunities, with Blackwood defending well. Andy Purse scored two goals for the quarter and Chris Palmer 1.
Gawler 3 - 3 Blackwood 2 - 1
icking against the breeze we struggled. Blackwood started to get the ball out of the centre and were providing plenty of opportunities to their forwards and kicked four goals for the quarter. Horse in his first game managed to kick a solidary goal but over all it was an ordinary quarter and we found ourselves 11 points down at half time.
Gawler 4 - 5 Blackwood 6 - 2
Kicking with the breeze in the third we provided the forwards with opportunities, but as per the first we managed only three majors while Blackwood kicked four and from that point in the game we were never in it. The lads fought hard and Tony Burne, Rod Knight and Mark Good were the goal scorers.
Gawler 7 - 5 Blackwood 10 - 2
We went into the last 18 points down and kicking into the breeze. It was a stuggle and the boys continued to fight it out, but we just couldnt get the score on the board and while it was one goal apiece in the last, letting Blackwood score 4 against the wind was the telling factor. Everyone battled hard but we came up short at the end with Andy Purse scoring the only goal in the last.
